THE MANDELA SCHOLARSHIPS SUPPORTED BY THE FIRSTRAND EMPOWERMENT FOUNDATION FOR A MASTERS DEGREE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SUSSEX

FirstRand Empowerment Foundation (FREF) has entered into a partnership with the University of Sussex to support two Mandela Scholarships. The purpose of this partnership is to enable two outstanding South African students per year to undertake postgraduate studies at the University of Sussex towards a Masters degree.


APPLICATION DATES

Applications will open on
Monday, 20 October 2025 and close on Thursday, 19 February 2026.

    The scholarship will provide full funding for two students to pursue their Masters degree in any discipline at the University of Sussex.

    FirstRand will conduct the interview process, and both FirstRand and the University of Sussex will conduct the selection process, which will run concurrently with the FirstRand international postgraduate scholarship programme. Candidates will be assessed based on academic excellence, leadership ability, community involvement and their potential to be a destiny changer. Candidates have to apply and be accepted for Masters degree in any field of study at the University of Sussex.

    Apply to the University of Sussex before 19 February 2026 and receive an offer to study at the University of Sussex by no later than 7 April 2026.
